With the festive season approaching, you might be thinking of ideas for Christmas presents. In our homes, Advent calendars are always a big hit. Even though you will not be able to put a “DO NOT OPEN UNTIL CHRISTMAS” tag on the gifts, Advent calendars will surely bring much joy to the kids, for almost the whole month of December!

Advent calendars came about as a way to count the days of Advent, starting from the first day of December, in anticipation of Christmas. Our kids were gifted this Smiggle Advent calendar two years ago. Each morning, the kids were so excited to open one little present, which consists of one Smiggle stationery that they could use and add to their collection.

Tips to get the best value out of this...

- There are many Advent calendars out there (e.g. Lego, Disney). Choose the calendar that is most suitable and appropriate for your kid. The Smiggle Advent calendar is great for primary school kids. For pre-schoolers, the Playmobil Advent calendar might be more suitable.

- Old is gold. As companies come up with new Advent calendars yearly, discounts are often given for older versions, but these are definitely not any less fun! You can find these on Shopee, Lazada and sometimes, even Carousell.
