Years ago, when I had baby #1, my mother helped to sun ikan bilis and blend it down into a powder to add to baby's meals. Fast forward to baby #2 some years later, there was no such hassle, thanks to the food powders from SG Homemade! Additionally, it was not just ikan bilis powder. There were other powders to flavour baby's bowls of porridge and soups, such as shiitake mushroom and prawn powders, much to the delight of baby's taste buds.

Even as baby grew up and developed more sophisticated taste buds as a pre-schooler, I am pleased to say that my pre-schooler is still very much satisfied with the soups flavoured with the different powders. SG Homemade has also innovated so much over the years, that I have been a loyal follower, from single ingredient powders to quick-cooking (almost instant) porridge to multiple-ingredient powders, that are very useful for steamboat base as well!

While I have not tried using the powders for steamboat base, we have benefitted from using the powders and quick-cooking riceberry porridge, while traveling overseas with a toddler. I have also used the powders to season food for the rest of the family, such as the prawn powder with potato pancakes to give that wonderful umami kick.

Though I have not tried, SG Homemade has also recently introduced seasoning packets for curry, stroganoff and even satay. I guess those will be next on my list to purchase!

Tips to get the best value out of this...

- Check out SG Homemade's website for mouth-watering recipes and inspirations on how to use their food powders and seasoning, in both children and adult dishes.

- The Berry Quick Porridge is really convenient for cooking up a wholesome meal for babies/toddlers, while on the go (i.e. for those who planning to travel overseas). This porridge beats food pouches that might be too bland or too 'pureed' for the toddlers.
