We were gifted this LeapFrog toy when our elder one was a toddler. This toy has been a go-to toy for both our kids ever since. Although this toy is meant for 2+ years old, we were surprised by the multi-functionality of the LeapFrog Fridge Phonics Magnetic Letter Set.

For a starter, you can use this with your babies, since it plays fun educational songs at the push of a button, including the "Alphabet Song" and "Wheels on the Bus”. And if your kids love the “Wheels on the bus” song, this will definitely be on replay. The toy is compact enough to bring around in the car and on shopping trips. (Just leave the alphabet tiles at home.)

As your child grows up, he/she will start learning to grab the chunky alphabet tiles and place it in the ‘hole’. This will help strengthen your toddler’s fine motor skills. The magnetic alphabet tile then doubles up as a large button, which when pressed will cause the toy to say out the sound of the letter, the letter’s name, a word starting with that letter, and even a sentence containing that word. All the repetition reinforces learning by listening and by action.

Finally, as your child progresses beyond his/her ABCs, this toy continues to serve a purpose as magnetic alphabet tiles that can be used to achieve so many other fun learning objectives. See the tips below for more play ideas. Overall, this is a toy that keeps giving and continues to be a fun companion for your child as he/she grows up.

Tips to get the best value out of this...

- The alphabets are magnetic, so you can use them separately on a magnetic whiteboard, on the fridge or the bomb shelter door.

- Using these magnetic alphabet tiles to teach your preschoolers how to arrange the alphabets in order, or to spell their names.
